We use Windows Defender built in AV and no VPN.

I can confirm my users only seem to have the issue during a Teams call. Mine are all teachers on Teams about 8 hours a day.

Dear customer,

we have noticed your failure report, howerver, we failed to duplicate the BSoD symptom after 16hours Teams video call .

Could you share more system configuration with us ? what application have your opened while you are doing Teams video call ?

Your information is very helpful .

Sincerely yours.

Sunny

Are you looking for logs/configs from only the user that posted this thread originally or the many of us whom are also having the same issues on multiple different laptops?

And what specifically are you looking for in a response from us? There could be thousands of variations with installed programs and configurations of each. I'm guessing, like the many recent Dell laptop docks, these docks are a bad batch and need to be reegnineered and replaced at no cost. We spent months with Dell going through all of this just to find out the issue was with their docks and that the hardware would have to be replaced.

I don't think this is a hardware problem. These laptops and docks have worked fine for 18 months. It was only when the recent driver updates came out that the issues began.

Thanks.  I am running my X1C8 with this driver on W10 2004.  Per your previous and this message, I am running a device with no AV and no VPN.  I just had a test Teams call with another device here for 12+ hours with no failure.

We are continuing to dig deeper into this issue.

I had in addition the file Wdf01000.sys involved. Crashes several times a day.

I'm running a Lenovo P43s on Windows 10 2004 with a ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen2 type 40AS serial number ZKW0XCRL. Current driver version is 3.7.3 according to the Lenovo System Update utility on my device. Updated to this version on 1/15/2021 which is when the BSODing began occurring. Before updating to this version I was only experiencing the network drops where the USB Ethernet device/driver crashes itself during a video call (Teams, Zoom, Skype, etc). What more can I provide?

We have provided memory dumps from this issue (thanks Brian!) to Realtek for analysis.  Hopefully they will find a clue as to how to fix.

We are also trying to find the trigger that will help us recreate it ourselves.  To that end, I'm wondering how many participants do you have in your Teams meetings when the BSOD occurs?  I'm wondering if it is dependent on number of participants and possibly how many are on video, etc.

To clarify, there are two issues that we are having.

1) USB Ethernet drops. During a video call, the USB Ethernet device/driver drops causing the laptop to switch to wifi, which causes a brief delay or a full drop in the video call. This occurs regardless of the number of call participants.

2) BSOD (via rtump64x64.sys). During a video call while using the dock's USB Ethernet, overall bandwidth is severely degraded. Call quality degrades even further with more participants on the call. BSOD during calls hasn't been consistent, so I'm not 100% certain what is triggering it.

To further clarify, neither of these issues occur whatsoever when the USB Ethernet device/driver is disabled. If we are plugged into the dock with this disabled, thus only on the network via wifi, we do not experience any of the above issues. This is how we know for certain that this is caused by the USB Ethernet device/driver in the dock.

Issue #1 is currently impacting hundreds of our users across several of our clients, so resolving this issue is very important to us.
