DS2200 Volume mapping

Hello is my first time configuring a DS2200 and have some questions:

We have a DS2200 connecting to a System X. MPIO is added and configured.

The server has two HBA cards, then we connect controller A to HBA1 and B to HBA2.

We have two pools and one Volume on each pool.

When I map the two volumes using both controllers, LUN0 for Vol1 and LUN1 for Vol2, the mapping shows OK on Mapping tab, nevertheless on the server Disk Management I can only see one.

Can someone help me find out What am I missing or doing wrong please?

Second question:

DS220 will be used for document management.

Would be better to have only one Volumen using the two pools space?

Any help is welcome

Thanks

Re: DS2200 Volume mapping

Thanks

The mapping is OK now, can see both Volumes from the server. Just restarted Windows and all is looking wood.

All the best

Re: DS2200 Volume mapping

Hi,

related to your second question, did you get an answer?

I have a similar concern:

The pools/volumes are managed by each controller that work Active/Active. From the literature I understand that if a controller fails you can still manage from the other one but does the other controller keeps the volumes up as well?

PS, first time on Lenovo community..

Re: DS2200 Volume mapping

Ametushi,

Yes, if/when a controller fails, the surviving controller will take ownership of the failed controller's LUNs/Volumes and it will also have the failed controllers configuration so it will also continue to service IO to/from the LUNs and also still provide the host/volume mapping of the failed controller.

Once the failed controller resumes operation, failback process will return the LUN/Volume resources to the restored controller and IO will resume through both controllers again.

Hope this helps.

Rob
