Firmware Update

2021-07-01, 19:30 PM

Hi, I did a firmware update on my DS2200 storage and one of the controllers stopped working, I can't access this controller, I practically lost it. Has anyone ever had this situation and managed to recover?

Hi Marcos_Silva

Which version of the firmware did you update?

There are some troubleshooting maybe you can try to isolate the problem:

1. located on the Ops panel on an enclosure’s left ear illuminates. Check the LEDs on the back of the enclosure to narrow the fault to a CRU, connection, or both. The LEDs also help you identify the location of a CRU reporting a fault.

2. Are you lost both controller canister or 1 of it? If possible use the SMC to verify any faults found while viewing the LEDs and to gather fault information.

Please feel free to leave your comment, thank you for support Lenovo

Hi Marcos Silva,

If enough time passed after the FW upgrade, as sometimes the controller might appear dead, but actually is not and the FW upgrade is just very slow/or controller stalled during the process, you could try to re-seat the controller. By re-seat I mean physically remove it from the enclosure for a couple of minutes and re-insert it. This normally does a hard restart of the canister and it re-initializes.
