Host multipath driver incorrect

2021-01-18, 13:47 PM

Hello together,

i have two esxi hosts. On both hosts esxi 7 Update 1c is installed.

This hosts are connected via SAS to my DE2000H storage.

Here a picture of my cabeling

For troubleshooting i've only on node connected.

If i connect both nodes i get even more errors.

My main problem is "Host multipath driver incorrect"

Any suggestions how can i resolve the problem?

Many thanks!

Hi Phase one,

You need few things:

- Set Host type from storage perspective to ESXi
- Set Claim rules in vmware:

https://thinksystem.lenovofiles.com/storage/help/topic/thinksystem_storage_de_himg_11.50.3/multipath_for_VMWare.html?resultof=%22%63%6c%61%69%6d%22%20%22%72%75%6c%65%73%22%20%22%72%75%6c%65%22%20

- Correct driver and FW version for the HBA. Since you have SAS most likely you have the 430 adapter which can be problematic if you don;t have correct FW for it. Check the interoperability matrix to ensure you are running validated levels. If needed update and of you need to downgrade contact support - the procedure could be tricky.

I hope this helps
