Iomega ix2-200 NAS connection

I bought the Iomega ix2-200 more than 10 years ago.

The computer that I use to install the software  to access the NAS is obsolete and down.

Recently, I wanted to copy out all my data. But without the software and the old operating system, I am not able to read my data.

I tried to read the data without the software. The NAS is still connected to my router. So I have the NAS IP address. I manage to ping the NAS.

I tried 2 methods:

1) type the IP address in the url. Hoping to get the NAS login page. But failed to get to the login page. Error message say connection cannot be made
2) I tried to map the NAS ip address to a drive. Also unsuccessful. And the error shows permission denied.

I am now stuck and I need to access the data.

I would really appreciate if anyone can provide a solution for this.

Re:Iomega ix2-200 NAS connection

Hi guestlcw,

1. Have you tried using the Reset Button(press & hold for 4 seconds) on the back side of the ix2-200? You can reset network settings this way.

2. Have you checked if you have a double NAT problem? This would happen if you have replaced a router before.  Just log in to your router to verify if you have double NAT.

- Go to the page that shows the router's WAN IP address, usually Status or Network Info.

- If the WAN IP address begins with 192.168, 10, or 172, you may have a NAT Firewall between
the router and internet connection.

- To troubleshoot the router problem and how to resolve it, search and download the official User Guide online and refer to page 127 in the "Troubleshooting Routers" section.

3. If you have a Windows computer connected to the same router where ix2-200 is connected, you can check the following things:

- Confirm all the computers are connected to that same network and to the internet.

- Make sure you are part of Workgroup: check in the System properties.

- Make sure you have Network Discovery enabled:

In Windows 8.1, open Network Sharing in Control Panel and check if the setting of "Turn On Network Discovery" is selected/turned on.

In Windows 10, open the "Advanced sharing" settings window -> click the "Change advanced sharing settings " link found on the left side of the Network and Sharing Center.

4. Make sure the firewall rules in Windows are not blocking access to your NAS:

-  Temporarily disable the firewall to see if your PC can discover the NAS this way.  If so, adjust your Windows firewall rules.

-  Check both the Windows firewall and anti-virus firewall for rules preventing file-sharing with your NAS.

Hope it helps!

Re:Iomega ix2-200 NAS connection

Hello Guestlcw,

Even though that product is currently End of Support the software can still be downloaded from the link here.  If you are looking for additional ways to access the data please see this article regarding how to access the data without LenovoEMC Storage Manger.
