ix4-300d restore with config and the same drives

Hi all,

we have an ix4-300d with 4*3TB HDD. To check if a 8TB would be recognized, we saved the config and took the original disks off.

The 8TB worked fine - ok.

But how can we get back to the state before?

What is the correct procedure?

Re: ix4-300d restore with config and the same drives

Hello, if I understand what you are asking it sounds like you have some questions about restoring the config to the device.

Please see the User Guide pg 127 Chapter 14 Backing up and Recovering Your ix4-300d Network Storage Settings

http://download.lenovo.com/nasupdate/manuals/ix4-300d/ix4-300d-4.1-en.pdf

Please let us know if that helps.

Re: ix4-300d restore with config and the same drives

Thanks for your fast reply :-)

I know the user guide ..... and this chapter.

But there is nothing written about the procedure itself.

When I have the 8TB disks in the device and I restore the config then an error occurs.

When I restart with the original 3TB disks then the device is in an inconsistent situation and I can do nothing.

How to go ahead?

Re: ix4-300d restore with config and the same drives

Sauer, just to be clear you're saying that when you use the 8TB disks with no config on the unit, that it works fine?

Did you reset the unit before putting in the new drives?

When you attempt to restore the previous config with the 8TB disks in place you receive an error?

Can you please post this error or let me know what happens?

If then sounds like you remove the 8TB disks and then put in the old drives and also receive an error.

Did you reset the unit before putting in the old drives?

Can you please let me know what error you get and the exact process you are using?  It is going to be very important me for to be able to advise you to know what steps you have taken, in what order and what errors you are receiving.

Re: ix4-300d restore with config and the same drives

Hi,

we wanted to know, if a 8TB HDD would be recognized.

First we saved our config and removed the  four 3TB disks.

Then reset the box to factory default.

Put the 8TB in - and it was recognized, fine.

Taken the 8TB out, reset again and want to come back to our old configuration.

What is the correct procedure to achive this?

When we put the  3TB disks back in same  order we get the error:

"Your device is in an inconsistent state because the original drives were replaced."

How we will the box get working again?
