I was given a Motoblur as a gift
I loved using it
It was fine for 4 weeks
Then, it just developed a weird problem - it keeps turning off and rebooting every 45 seconds
It does this consistently
I've used different sim cards - I know this isn't the problem
I called Motorola for help
They said without a receipt I was stuffed - didn't matter that the phone was completely new
(Sony Ericsson: if you have a new phone - they'll take the IMEI and will honour the warranty if a new phone)
This sucks : (
I got a call back 5 min after the phone call
They told me to update the software - the phone was due an update
Yeeee ha! The phone lasted 1.5 minutes - and then started rebooting
Is this a common problem?
I googles and only found one thread where someone suggested the Sim was faulty
Any replies would be great

This does not sound like a Sim card problem.
Before this was happening did you use a task manager, or task killer?
Also, did you install any new apps right before this started to happen?

Another thing to try is to start the phone in safe mode. This will allow you to check out what you have installed for app that might be causing a problem.
See if you can boot the phone with the above instructions, if so, I would blame this on a app.

thanks for the replies - apologies for not replying sooner
the phone has been factory reset - in the 45 seconds it's up, i've managed to do a complete reset - so no applications
i've done as u suggest - i held down the 'S' key on the physycal keboard
this didn't do anything - am i pressing the wrong key?
i'm noticing now that the phone is resetting every 10 seconds now
can u suggest anything else?
also: something else i would add is the fact that the phone resets - but don't have to enter the pin code - it just goes straight to the normal screen (for all of 5 seconds)
also: i've done a lot more researching on google now - at first i thought i was the only one with the problem - it seems not - i am not alone - there are LOOOOOADS of people out there with this fault
what seems unfair of me is for motorola to refuse to give any assistance - other phone anufaturers would not do this for a brand new phone (i explained above that i don't have the receipt as the phone was given as a present)
motorola: please do something - this is not fair

If you follow the instructions that I posted above, should put the phone into safe mode, which just doesn't load any apps that you might have installed. That way we can see if its an app that is installed.
If that didn't work, give this a shot:
STOCK RECOVERY MODE
1. Hold POWER BUTTON and X button on keyboard
2. After logo popup release POWER BUTTON and keep hold just X button
3. Triangle with little android popup release X button
4. Press POWER BUTTON once
Popup screen : Android System Recovery
When in there clear cache, and do a factory reset.

thanks for the last reply
ok, i figured out how to get into safe mode - for some reason the isntructions weren't making sense when i first read
problem still there
i boot into safe made - great - i can see the safemode semi transparent icon on the bottom left
5 - 10 seconds later, the phone reboots - and goes back into normal mode (upon which it reboots again in a similar fashion)
i used to hate motorola phones - but the flipout, i loved for the 4 weeks i was allowed to use for

thanks for the quick reply
cache clearing: haven't done that
how do i do it
but another thing i forgot to mention: it's now trying to do a factory reset
it comes to the welcome screen, asks you to inout questions and choose wireless networks etc
problem: the phone just resets - i can't now go through the setup

maybe i'm doing something wrong
1. i turned off
2. i held down the power buttom and the 'enter' key
this then starts the phone and in the bottom left there is some writing that says 'safe mode'
am i doing something wrong here?
when i did this - i thought great!!
but then it rebooted again : (
i tried again a few times and managed to initiate a full factory reset
the factory reset caused the phone to come back to the original screen u get when u first turn on the phone
but after choosing the first few options, the phone reboots again
i think i must doing something wrong
