Fedora 32 on Flex 5 14 intel i3 (14IIL05)

2020-09-25, 23:49 PM

I brought Flex 5 14 inches touchpad with i3 process last month, just like to share my experience here. I installed it from Fedora 32 DVD without problems, most of the hardware were functional with the following exceptions

  • Touchscreen - not detected
  • finger printer reader - not detected
  • bluetooth - detected, but not able to pair with Boltune BT-BH020 headset
  • microphone - not detected, but work with external headset

I am using Ubuntu on most of my linux system, however, there were quit a few problem when I installed 20.04; and Fedora works much better on this laptop with few problems I can live with.

Update it to Fedora 33, the microphone is working; but not the touch screen. Update the kernel to 5.9.8, did not break anything, and ran smoother.

Just found the touch screen is working now, did not know when it happen, I have the standard Fedora 33 installation, with Kernel 5.10.15 running. The Active Pen also works, it senses the pressure as well. A strange problem I had with this laptop; multiple key columns stop working late December for no reason, (key 3,e,d,c, 4,r,f,c, 6.y.h., ...not response). I use external keyboard most of the time; so did not send it in for repair. However, last week, the full keyboard works again ???? It is a hardware issue, when running window 10, it behave the same.
