How do I add a signature?

I'm new and haven't created many threads. From time to time, someone here asks me what model I have and its spec. In other forums eg Microsoft Community I would set up a signature showing all the relevant info. What should I do here please?

Re: How do I add a signature?

Click on your name at the top and select "My Settings."

From there, choose "Personal" and click on "Personal Information." You'll see the signature box on that page.

Re: How do I add a signature?

Thanks for that, Doc. My new signature doesn't all fit in the space! Presumably I've gone over the top so what do you suggest I should leave out or  edit please?

Re: How do I add a signature?

Abbreviations and edit out redundancies Smiley Happy  For example, we all know an i7 is from Intel. Don't need to have "Intel" before it. Ditto a GTX graphics card. I believe you can also shrink the font. "Win10x64v1903" easily replaces "64-bit operating system x64-based /Quality Update v1903 18362.329 (Aug30 2019)." Don't even need the words "operating system" in front of that nor "OS" as we all know exactly what that is. The build number changes so frequently, you'll be updating your signature every Patch Tuesday, so that's another thing you can leave out. You have things such as 8.00GB RAM.  8GB RAM will save you three characters.

Lots of other things you could shorten or remove, as well. Pretend you're composing it for Twitter where you HAVE to truncate things.

Re: How do I add a signature?

@TaffyOutlane, in addition to the on-point recommendations @Doctordon suggests, you can also reduce the font size.

Example, if you want to try it out:

<font size="1">CPU Intel Core i7 7700HQ @ 2.80GHz / Kaby Lake 14nm Technology/RAM 8.00GB Single-Channel /Motherboard LNVNB161216 (U3E1)/Graphics Generic PnP Monitor (1600x900@60Hz) Intel HD Graphics 630/4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 ForceWare v. 391.25/ 64-bit operating system x64-based /Quality Update v1903 18362.329 (Aug30 2019) / OFFICE365 Home / outlook.com/Edge version 44.17763.1</font>

Just copy/paste and see.

Regards.

Re: How do I add a signature?

Hades!!!! I intended to mark both the replies by DoctorDon & NateS as the answer. Is only one answer allowed? Can someone also mark DoctorDon as the answer too?

Re: How do I add a signature?

HA!  Yeah, only one solve per thread. I'm sure anyone reading the thread will figure it out. Meanwhile, I'll TRY not to let it get to me. <sniff sniff> I'll be okay. Really. Might need a TINY bit of therapy to get over it. But I'll be fine. Eventually. Smiley Very Happy Smiley Very Happy Smiley Very Happy

@TaffyOutlane, you should be able to unmark the solution, yourself, and then re-mark the post you wish. If you have trouble, just reply back and either @Doctordon or I can do it for you.

Cheers.

Re: How do I add a signature?

@TaffyOutlane, I've gone ahead and re-marked @Doctordon's post (#2) as the actual solution/answer to the question asked in your opening post.

Cheers.
