C730 can't handle 3000mhz RAM?

2019-08-11, 15:32 PM

Hi.

I installed two "CMK16GX4M2B3000C15" 's in my C730/9700k edition, and they're not running at full speed. Only 2133mhz.

Since i can't enable XMP in the BIOS - what can i do?

If this really is the case, this machine has let me down in so many ways that i cannot even begin to count them.

Greetings Lurendrejer,

No the C730 will not allow any RAM to operate over the Intel CPU memory controller specification as exceeding the Intel CPU memory controller specification when using XMP will void Intel's warranties as it causes more wear on the processors and than potential failure. So Lenovo does not provide XMP support that could make them liable of damages.

To get the RAM to operate at 2666MHz you will need to look at the SPD (Serial Presence Detection) for the default boot speed and for instance the SPD speed of this VENGEANCE LPX is 2666MHz but the SPD speed of CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 is 2133MHz.
