Fan Control for Legion T530-28ICB

2019-02-18, 19:12 PM

Hi,

Does exist an option to control the fans? (case fan)

I just added one fan on the front pannel and it's a bit noisy. It stays at 2000rpm and the other ones at 1000 rpm.

Thank's

Greetings and welcome new Lenovo forum user from Romania,

If using a 4 wire PWM Y adapter there will be no way for the systems fan controller to adjust the speed of both case fans as the singles will be confusing for it. Ideally each Pulse-Width Modulating case fan should be connected straight to the motherboard's fan head to be controlled by the system's fan controller.

There are PWM fan controllers or hubs you can use to manually adjust fan speed.

Hi,

I use the fans connected straight to the motherboard fan headers, not in PWM Y adapter.

You say about the the system's fan controller... How do I acces it?

Thank you

If there is anyway to access the system's fan controller it should be from within the BIOS but if you do not see it than Lenovo did not provide a way to interface with it.

What make and model case fan did you install?

Also did you add this fan as a second front intake fan or was there no fan at all?

Edit: Take a look at the BIOS Setup Utility program for it. Could be under or in a sub-menu such as Power management or Advanced Power Management (APM).

With my 710-25ISH it was under Power and call Intelligent Cooling Engine (ICE).

Hi,

T530-28ICB is the model of my case and I added one fan as a second front intake fan. One was already in the case.

In BIOS I don't have ''Intelligen Cooling Engine''

Thank you

Probably you bought a fan which by default has a minimum of 2000 revolutions per minute. Buy a manual regulator or other fan with an average speed in the region of 1000.

Here is an example of how it is in my computer:

It's normal. You have pwm fans. Pulse width modulation (PWM), or pulse-duration modulation (PDM), is a method of reducing the average power delivered by an electrical signal, by effectively chopping it up into discrete parts. The average value of voltage (and current) fed to the load is controlled by turning the switch between supply and load on and off at a fast rate.
