Fan rattling

Hello, so recently one of my GPU fans has been making some annoying rattling noise. It doesn't happen continuously but rather for a few seconds then stop. There isn't much dust on the heatsink or the fan blades and I push some pressure on the fan and it isn't loose or something. I don't know what to do at this point.

Re:Fan rattling

Hi vacheman,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing with your GPU fan. It could be due to a variety of reasons, such as a misaligned fan, a faulty bearing, or even a loose wire touching the fan blades.

You could try to carefully inspect the fan and its surroundings for any visible issues. If you're comfortable with it, you could also try to disassemble the fan and check the bearings. However, please be aware that this could void your warranty, so proceed with caution.

You can also install MSI Afterburner to see how it could help with the Fan speed.

I hope this helps, and please let us know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

Jhay02_Lenovo

Re:Fan rattling

Hello, the thing is, it happens only from time to time and now the sound kinda stopped. Although I think the fan sound has changed a bit. It now sounds like its rubbing against something and the noise is a bit higher pitched than the other ones. I don't think its the cable or just the frame.

Re:Fan rattling

Hi vacheman,

Please inspect the fan and its surroundings for any visible issues or dirt or check on the status of the fan physically.

Please load your BIOS to defaults then install all available firmware/ drivers under Motherboard Devices, and the BIOS update from the Lenovo support site.

Load BIOS to Defaults:
1. Shutdown the computer (leave the power cable/ charger plugged in)
2. Hit F1 (from your keyboard) repeatedly during boot up to get the BIOS page, If F1 will not work try F2
3. While ON the BIOS page, hit F9 > Yes to load BIOS to defaults, and F10 > Yes to save changes and restart.

Best regards,

Jhay02_Lenovo
