How to install Xbox Dongle in Y710 Cube?

2017-08-18, 15:20 PM

Does anyone know how to install Xbox Dongle in Y710 Cube if it doesn't come with it pre-installed?

I got myself an Oculus Rift and it comes with free Xbox Dongle so I wanted to put it in my Y710 Cube designated port.

Following the instruction on how to replace one in here (page 35)

https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/desktop_pub/ic_y710_hmm_20160711.pdf

I was able to put it in that place but I'm not sure how I can connect it to the motherboard.

For anyone who has one of these that came with the built in, could you help me check it on yours how it's supposed to be connected?

Hello apratama

Thank you for using the Lenovo forum

To help with looking in to how to solve this issue for you would you be able to add some images of the area where the dongle is? like the inside of the front cover and any places where cables may go through or anything like that.

I folllowed this instruction and was able to place it in there, but I didn't see any cable to connect it to the motherboard.

You will need a USB Cable (Male to Female) for the connection.

FRU 00PH138 contains both the dongle and the USB cable (Included below is a picture from the parts lookup page on the support site)

It's available for purchase at (currently out of stock):
