Ideacentre PC not recognizing internal HDD

2020-08-30, 22:28 PM

Hello. I have a Ideacentre Y900-34ISZ Desktop (ideacentre) - Type 90DD. I have owned this PC for several years with no issues. I haven't booted it up for several months and turned it on today to install updates. Upon booting up, I realized that my internal 1 TB HDD is no longer recognized. My SSD is fine and is recognized normally. I checked disk management and it isn't showing up there, nor in my file browser. Anyone had this issue or know how to fix it? Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

Well step one would be to check the SATA data/power connections to the drive itself, but if they are intact and the drive is still not spinning up and/or being recognized, then I would check in the BIOS just to be sure that the SATA controller was enabled (assuming that is an option).

If everything checks out internally, then the drive would probably need to be removed, tested and replaced if needed.

Best of luck,
