[Legion C730] SSD addition

2019-12-30, 17:18 PM
Is it so that if I install two additional 2.5 SSD, I will only be able to get 6GB/s output from one of them (the other would be 3GB/s) with the current motherboard? Actually, even with the current setup (WD blue sata III 1TB) plus an SSD I'd lose bandwidth (?).

From the image you attached, you have
1 SATA 1 slot
1 SATA 2 slot
1 SATA 3 slot

Forget about SATA 1 and 2 since they are a piece of legacy technology. I believe the slots exist merely for backward compatibility (In case someone still owns a SATA 1 or 2 harddisk).

For SATA 3, due to the limitation of the technology, SSDs attached to this slot will have their R/W speed capped at ~ 550MB/s.

BTW, the bandwidth of SATA 3 is 6Gb/s (bits per second), not 6GB/s (bytes per second).

This helped me too

Late reply, but you were absolutely right, sata 1 and 2 were written there just for backward compatibility.
