Re:Legion T5 tower 28IMB05 freezing

The blame is really on NVIDIA here, because their drivers are causing many motherboard manufacturers to scratch their heads, as of now.  They refuse to take blame for it, too.  This is why I've stuck with Sapphire and AMD, combined, over the years, because they've never caused me any grief.  MSI/AMD is also a good way to go.

If your tower is like mine, it's got an MSI board in there.  Consider contacting MSI for support; they may be able to swap!

Just talked to a supervisor, and it is as I suspected it would be from "what lenovo has become" as a culture.

I say that because they once did put the customers first.

So the blame game is the response, and there are no solutions for this regardless of warranty status.

For those of you touting old drivers as a solution, can you state that you are not affiliated with, or work for Lenovo?

We are talking about a gaming pc, that is a lemon, locked down in the bios with proprietary crap that is now catching up with them.

Yes, other manufacturers are struggling with this issue, because of proprietary crap that they refuse to take responsibility for.

Now we're stuck with lemons, and Lenovos response is, "that's the way it is"

Word for word from a supervisor. Wow

The problem is not inherently Lenovo's here, it's NVIDIA.  Their newer drivers aren't working with a plethora of name-brand motherboards.  NVIDIA/MSI/someone else should take responsibility.  If this goes to court, it should be on NVIDIA.

Is there anything we can do to get this fixed? My warranty ends in a few months... the solutions that have been given out has not been working for me.

@jatgm

I only have a couple months left also.

Lenovo, via a support supervisor made it clear to me that the warranty does not cover these lemons. I imagine it costs too much to do a recall.

Call support, have a support ticket created, but do not hold to hope, it has left these lands.

All support is doing is "taking notes" about the complaints we have. And hoping we shut up by using old drivers.

Yes, nvidia is "part" of the issue, but i don't see Nvidia catering to pre-built, proprietary main boards and components that are no longer compatible with them.

We can wait and see, but yeah, our warranties will expire, of which have very little value anyways, as we are now finding out.

Sorry you can't get your issue working even with older drivers.

That's more sympathy than you'll get from lenovo...

Edit: this thread is marked as solved 🤦‍♂️

Let's ask around this thread or start anew, with the topic:  What manufacturer made your NVIDIA card?  The problem is not Lenovo's ultimately.  They have to come up with BIOS updates that are unnecessary for basically anything else at this time, with the exception of this ridiculous problem that NVIDIA refuses to take responsibility for.

Here's Lenovo's dilemma:  say they produce the BIOS update, and then a new driver set by NVIDIA is released and then we're back to hard crashes again, then what?

Clearly, if there's a suit, it should be the consumers/buyers of NVIDIA in bulk against NVIDIA.

This is why I have stood by AMD products for so long, and refused to use NVIDIA's garbage.

If we're all using MSI, we need to contact them and let them know, all at once, what the Heck is happening.

When is Lenovo going to release a new driver version? I understand that the graphics card isn't compatible with the new driver versions, but it's a real bummer that I can't just update through the GeForce experience. After several chats with Lenovo technicians, they just deleted my driver and reinstalled it which did nothing except occasionally wrecking my Realtek audio driver. I would just like to know from anyone at Lenovo if there will ever be an update (if so, please say when), or do I need to get a new graphics card? :(

Please read the rest of the thread.  Only an AMD GPU will fix the issue.  Download Speccy from Piriform, check to see if you also have an MSI card, contact MSI about the problem.  Show them this thread.  Show them the threads at NVIDIA about the same issue, affecting hundreds of various motherboards.

This is not Lenovo's fault.
