Re:Legion T5 tower 28IMB05 freezing

Whoever can fix this problem. From my understanding it's the NVIDIA drivers that aren't working with the MSI motherboards, right? So if NVIDIA can just fix this issue it would be fine I would assume. Or instead would we contact MSI about a motherboard swap? I feel like the NVIDIA route would be easier, because if this is just a driver issue, they could just release a patch that fixes the issue.

How would we get in touch with NVIDIA about this?

NVIDIA already refused to acknowledge that this is their fault, but soon, it will be their problem. Your GPU may be made by MSI, the motherboard is Lenovo. The problem seems to be with various, random motherboards (not just Lenovo's) and NVIDIA drivers since late Spring/early Summer 2021. I know someone whose computer was destroyed by this issue, and yet, he and his wife still think NVIDIA is wonderful. News flash: they're not! Look at the games. Most are supporting AMD's tech now over NVIDIA's, because AMD continually supports what they create, where NVIDIA will design fast, and then dump the issues on the buyers. I would download Speccy from Piriform, run it, look to see what brand your graphics card (GPU) is, and then contact the manufacturer of that card, tell them you have an OEM card via Lenovo, tell them you haven't had help from NVIDIA, show them this thread. See if they will replace your board with an equivalent AMD.

Have you done this? Was MSI willing to replace your GPU?

I haven't had the time or the desire yet, so no, but I know I've dealt with MSI for 26 years, and they are usually willing to listen, at the very least.

So to recap, is the issue with the GPU? Or the GPU driver? Or the motherboard? From my understanding the GPU driver isnt working with the motherboard, so it crashes. And to fix it would be to just get another GPU from a different company?

We think it's the drivers causing issues to certain motherboards. It's not just a few, either, it's a LOT of them, and most of them are newer. People with older motherboards using newer NVIDIA cards seem to have fewer issues.

Ugh, ok then, I concede.

Nvidia is the problem here.

It's just that for months now, there has been no sign of a solution, and we didn't pay nvidia for this PC, we paid Lenovo.

My next system will have amd components as a result of this debacle.

My T5 will  become a very large door stop. Hopefully I can at least sell a couple components from it.

Unfortunately that also means I'll no longer be lenovo customer. Not because I hold them solely responsible but because of their customer support and warranty limitations.

Hard way to learn a lesson, but I'm done now with gaming pc prebuilds.

I've been viewing and participating in identical forum posts on NVIDIA's forums the last several months.  The fallout exists there!

I had the same issue since august and my system has been stable for months. What I did:

1) Installed the latest Nvidia GPU Driver from Lenovo Support site

2) Uninstalled all Realtek drivers

3)Bought cheap USB sound card and started using that for audio

What I understand about the problem is that there is a conflict with Realtek drivers and Nvidia drivers. Once I stopped using Realtek drivers the problem went away.

The "latest" Nvidia drivers from the Lenovo support page are outdated. What is your version?
