By "latest" I mean latest available at Lenovo support site. Driver version is 457.65. Listed at Lenovo support site as 27.21.14.6231.

Test the most recent drivers from the NVIDIA support site, and see if they work!  It's possible that the realtek audio and the audio provided by NVIDIA are in conflict, too!  Something for us to research.  Good work!

That will be a good thing to test.

Can the latest nvidia drivers cooperate with the USB audio device you are using?

My suspicion is that using outdated nvidia drivers (available from lenovo site) is what is stabilizing your system.

I am using my system with the realtek device and outdated nvidia drivers. This works for now as a workaround.

To be honest, I don't want to test anything new anymore. Before I bought the USB sound card I tested 5-6 different Nvidia drivers with my Realtek soundcard and after few weeks I still got the random freezes. But one thing I can say is that there is not much difference in performance with latest Nvidia drivers vs 6 month old drivers. It could depend on what you are doing with your GPU etc, but I play COD Warzone and with all the different drivers I tested the performance results were more or less the same. So I think using older GPU drivers don't mean you will get less FPS or anything.

I don't blame you one iota. I know I won't buy anything NVIDIA EVER again. There's people running Dells, HPs, Acers, all brands, plus custom built PCs having these issues too, and it's only with NVIDIA cards.

I don't think it's the Realtek drivers that are the issue. I believe it's just the GPU drivers, honestly. We don't have much evidence saying that it's Realtek

When my PC freezes and I wait for few minutes I get BSOD. After that when I reboot, my Realtek driver goes missing and my PC doesn't even show that any kind of soundcard is present. So that is why I think that it's something to do with Realtek driver as well. Others have similar issue.

Re:Legion T5 tower 28IMB05 freezing

I dont think so. My hypothesis is that the GPU driver crashes the whole system, and it may just be a glitch with the soundcard. Or maybe the motherboard just fails to pick up the soundcard after the reboot, because it was restarted weirdly, cause when you restart the system again the soundcard picks up.

The only way we would know for sure is if you install the newer GPU drivers that have been known to not work, wait for your system to crash. If it never crashes, then we know it's the soundcard. If it does crash, then we know that the soundcard has nothing to do with it.

(Also for the first link you posted, I made that forum post)

Just to recap, the crashing has stopped for us right? All of us has stopped crashing right? After downgrading the GPU driver?

Theres no need to replace the soundcard if downgrading the Nvidia driver works. Unless it doesnt? Can someone tell me if they've had a crash after downgrading their GPU driver? For me, I think it's too early to check because personally I haven't had a crash since downgrading my driver but I think I downgraded it too recently to be able to tell.

I can confirm that downgrading the nvidia driver to the one listed on the lenovo support site is the workaround for this.

We're at the mercy of nvidia to fix this issue (in order to upgrade gpu drivers) which is not looking great from what I'm reading in the nvidia forums.

No one is taking full responsibility, but nvidia is the primary culprit here.
