Legion T7-34IMZ5 Desktop crashing without error

2021-04-28, 16:06 PM

Hello,
my new Lenovo Legion T7-34IMZ5 Desktop (Lenovo) - Type 90Q8 computer shuts down (crash) without error warnings.

Product 90Q8007HSZ

Bios O4LKT18A

Processor i9  10900KF

GPU Nvidia GeForce RTX3080

SSD Samsung MZVLB1TOHBLR-000L7

HDD ST1000DM003-1SB102

Windows log error is Kernel Power, Event ID 41, task category (63).

Usually when this happens I am in the file explorer.

I installed Lenovo Diagnostic Windows and performed all available tests without any problems found.

I don't understand why this happens on a new 1 month old pc.

Hello @EsseBe,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I did a quick look up for this error and found that it is sometimes caused by driver issues.

Can you go ahead and try to update the drivers by performing an automatic update using Lenovo Vantage?

Hope this helps.
Regards,
Jack_Lenovo1

Hello @Jack_Lenovo1 ,

Thank you for your reply.
I tried updating with Lenovo Vantage and Bridge but the answer is No driver update is required for your computer.
I have used the diagnostic tool and everything seems to be in order.

What do I still have to test?

Hello @EsseBe,

Thanks for writing back.

Would it be possible for you to try resetting the OS?

This will isolate the issue further.

You can follow this quick guide: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/videos/vid100785-how-to-reset-your-pc-in-windows-10

Hope this helps,

I don't want to have to reinstall everything because I spent a lot of time with all the photo programs. By cons by reading the forum I saw that a user who also had this problem uninstalled the new Nvidia drivers. I try to do the same and see if that fixes the problem.

My new Lenovo T7-34IMZ5 had a couple random restarts too.

This happened when watching a video on twitch or playing a videogame.

Could it be a driver video issue or maybe the infamous windows update kb5001330 (installed on 16/04/2021).

Re:Legion T7-34IMZ5 Desktop crashing without error

I received my T7i (i9-10900/RTX3080) and started having crashes as well.

I've gone several days now without a single crash after making a few changes.

1.  Changed the power plan to High Performance (Click Start->Settings->Type Power in search box->Select Power and Sleep Settings->Additional power settings (off to the right).  On that page, select "High performance" and click Change plan settings.  Set both to "Never" and click Change advanced power settings.  I set my hard disk to turn off in 0 minutes (disabled).  Under Sleep, make sure Sleep and Hibernate are "Never".   Click OK and then Save Changes.

2.  If you use Chrome, click on the 3 vertical dots at upper right corner, select Settings.  On the left expand Advanced and click System.  De-select the "Use hardware acceleration when available".  Close and re-open Chrome.

3.  If you're using Wifi for internet, right click the internet icon in the taskbar, lower right corner.  Select Open Network and Internet Settings.  Click "Change adapter options".  Right click the "Wi-Fi" entry and select properties.  Click the Configure button.  Click on the Power Management tab.  Un-check the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and click OK.

At this point I'm running very solid and am happy.  Hopefully this might help y'all.

<edit>

p.s.  I did update my Geforce driver to what was latest at the time 466.11.  Looks like 466.27 is available at https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/174658/en-us which is probably a good idea.
