Legion T7-34IMZ5 Fan noise.

2021-05-03, 9:12 AM

So I just baught this rad computer.

But there is no way to adjust the fans...

I Already set it to Quiet in Lenovo Vantage but that doesnt change anything... At idle all fans (and there are alot) run att full speed as it seems.

The only fans I can adjust is GFX 3080 card fans via MSI Afterburner... But I would like to adjust all the case fans, and maybe set manual curves... At least I dont want them to sound like an aeroplane taking off! :D

Hello @Martinizi,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I would suggest trying to update the BIOS of the machine. Other users have reported that this usually works in lowering fan noise for their machines.

You can download it using this link (please note that you may have to enter your serial number in order to get the right file): https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/desktops-and-all-in-ones/legion-series/legion-t7-34imz5/downloads/driver-list/component?name=BIOS%2FUEFI

Hope this helps.
Regards,
Jack_Lenovo1

Following, that is the only complaint I have with mine so far, I think it is the water pump making a high pitch noise that fills the room.

Tried that. That is the same BIOS that is already on the machine.

Hi! Thank you for answering. This is a big stationary gaming computer with 9 fans. Cpu is running at 32C and GPU at 49C so it’s defenitly NOT in desperate need for cooling :)I turned off VT-d in Bios and set mode Quiet in BIOS and I think it did the trick. I also set quiet in Vantage.

Hello @Martinizi,

Thanks for sharing that.

Kindly keep us posted if you think this has eliminated the fan noise from your machine.

I'm sure other members will find this useful if they run into the same problem.

” I turned off VT-d in Bios and set mode Quiet in BIOS and I think it did the trick. I also set quiet in Vantage.” I hade no clue why VT-d would make my fans go banana though… I can live without it though om not going to virtualize anyway.

Hello @Martinizi,

Thanks for sharing that.

It is possible that having VT on is using up some resource that would make the fans activity like that.

Kindly keep us posted whether or not this will fix it permanently for you.

I've now used the computer for a month and there are no way to make the fans more silent. The VT-d thing was just an illusion. Fans are still noisy and loud. Good thing I have noice cancellation ear phones...

I would like to se a tool like Afterburner for the fans in the computer! Now there is no way to make them silen... and CPU TEMP is 39C so no need to spin the fans so hard...
