WOW did we just get slapped in the face? No BAR support for 10th gen Intel CPU's, are you kidding me?

Hi all,

yes, no major changes. I inquired about the latest BIOS release and was informed that the only change implemented is the modification of default setup items. I was informed that the resizable BAR feature was already implemented in the package from 7th of May - O5FKT0BA - Add Resizable BAR function, so those of you who own the models with the 11th Gen Intel CPUs should already have the functionality available. There is no resizable BAR function for the models with 10th Gen Intel CPUs.

Best regards,

Juraj, are you saying there is no plan to bring this feature to the 10th Gen Intel CPU-based system? This seems to contradict what was posted here by another admin previously, and is certain to cause an uproar from those of us who purchased the 10th gen systems, which are still the only CPUs available in the systems for sale on the lenovo website.

They have, and had no intention of bring it to 10th gen.

Jack just told us all what we wanted to hear as they were conscious of the negative opinion.

Thermals are that poor the motherboard and gpu probably could not take it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yes, this is what I am saying. By the other admin, do you mean me? Back in April I was informed that this feature is going to be first released for the T7-34IMZ5, it wasn't specified that it is only going to be released for the O5FKT0_A BIOS (11th Gen Intel). I have learned this just now too.

Even though I don't know the exact reasons why there is not going to be the very same update for the 10th Gen Intel CPUs (our devs obviously know how to implement the feature), I highly doubt it has anything to do with the thermals of the system. I would suspect it has something to do with the limited compatibility with 10th Gen Intel chipsets, since 11th Gen chipsets are supported without exceptions.

That link says this

Resizable BAR requires CPU and motherboard compatibility, and a Resizable BAR SBIOS update. As of March 30th, 2021, the following CPU chipsets and CPUs officially support Resizable BAR on GeForce RTX 30 Series desktop GPUs:

Intel Chipsets
Intel 10th Gen Z490 H470 B460 H410
Intel 11th Gen S All 11th Gen chipsets available as of March 30th, 2021
Intel CPUs
Intel 10th Gen Intel 11th Gen S-Series
i9-10xxx CPUs i9-11xxx CPUs
i7-10xxx CPUs i7-11xxx CPUs
i5-10xxx CPUs i5-11xxx CPUs
i3-10xxx CPUs

Z490 and i9-10xxx CPUs are listed.   Where have you seen there is limited compatibility?

Thanks!!

I'm not sure where on that Nvidia link you are seeing "limited compatibility with 10th Gen Intel chipsets".

I really, really love this PC overall, but I guess I should thank Lenovo for reminding me why I've always built my own.

Can you get us 10th gen owners a definitive reason why were not getting resizeable bar support

This facility is compatible with all Z490 chipsets

Yes its not a deal breaker, but Lenovo ! Please don't treat us like uneducated idiots

When you buy £2.5k of gaming desktop, you don't do it on a whim

We deserve a definitive answer and then we will all move on

Once the warranty runs out ill be upgrading the motherboard. I think you can get a competitive motherboard for 100 or less.

UPDATE: The resizable BAR feature is also going to be released for the 10th Gen Intel CPU machines at a later date. Unfortunately I do not have any ETA, but it is definitely in the works. I will update you in this thread as soon as I find out more.
