Lenovo Legion C530-19ICB 9700 + 2060 Power limit throttling

2020-06-09, 8:35 AM

Hello,

I need some help with my PC I have changed the fans and the CPU cooler :

-Pure Wings 2 80mm fan

-Pure Wings 2 90mm fan X2

-Noctua NH-L9X65 Cpu

I still get Power limit throttling and also high temps(89-94) for PUBG and MW .

I have XTU also installed with undervolting at (-0.85) and also disabled the turbo boost power max but still high temps and also Power limit throttling.

Any suggestion to change something or to improve temps ?

Hi there Cataruta.

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Are you sure that the games you have in focus are being throttled ?

Power limit Throttling is supposed to throttle and limit other background processes, but yes, it does have a little detection glitch.

You can see more on how to handle Power Limit Throttling here.

I would probably double check if your games are actually being throttled. 89 to 94 is still under the threshold, even tho 94 is starting to push it.

Are you using any fan controlling software or does your system have an option to boost fans like the gaming features for some models on Lenovo Vantage?

I'd suggest trying out something to give the fans a little extra speed like MSI Afterburner or the like if your Lenovo Vantage does not have this feature.

Have a nice day! o/

Voithos.

The motherboard does not have any fan control option but I will try with MSI, I will upload pictures later today with the temps in game and idle .

Also I will try the link that you send to me maybe something will change.

Any other hardware change that will improve temps ? I got some $$ to upgrade if its something that will help me.

Thank you.

Hello

I would advise you to start installing the drivers from the official product support page.

1.Latest BIOS for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Legion T530-28ICB, Legion C530-19ICB, Legion T5-28ICB05 Desktop

2.Intel Chipset Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Desktop

3.NVidia latest drivers for 2060 from https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/159679/en-us

https://www.argusmonitor.com/en/ - allows you to control all the fans, although you need to be careful with the adjustments

I also have c530 with i5-9400, but they have the same TDP - 65Wt

Just checking - did you upgrade to the 2060 or did it come with the build?   If it came with the build then its likely to be some problem.

It you upgraded- areyou using a blower fan version of the GPU - if not this will certainly explain the high temps.
