Lenovo Legion C530 Overheating

2020-07-08, 18:46 PM

Hello,

I have the 90L2004AUS system, specs below.

i7 9700

RTX 2060

16GB ram

I have noticed that whilst gaming the CPU temp reaches extreme temperatures of above 90 degrees C. I understand this is very bad for the processor itself let alone the system. I want to fix this issue but have no clue what the problem causing this is. I suspect Lenovo cheaped out on the cooling with some garbage stock intel fans. If anyone has any suggestions on how to ensure longetivity and proper performance of my system it would be much appreciated.

Adam

It's a little in depth, but maybe they applied the thermal paste poorly.

Go into the BIOS UEFI immediately and turn off the turbo feature.  Your stats will drop but you'll save your computer.  I let this go for two days and now I have a permanent issue of overheating and crashing.

What happened here is that this feature was installed with no guidance to users on how to monitor it or how to fine tune it.  I am now trying to figure out if it's something I can repair or not.  I hate thinking I burned up a computer after only three months of use, but that's how it's starting to look.
