Lenovo Legion T5-28IMB05 FAN SETTINGS

2021-05-12, 2:13 AM

Hi, I recently bought a Legion T5 and I installed a new fan since the CPU was running on 70degrees, after some new thermal paste
its running at 30 now.
My only issues is that the Fan I installed is running at 100%, iv tried these things (lowering battery performance, changing Lenovo Vantage settings, checked the bios several times but there was nothing in there about fans) I really dont know what to do. I need the fan since the CPU cooler gets hot but its sounds like a jet engine..

And advice's what to do? Iv been thinking of using a third party program but I know these have to be put on manually every time you start the PC.

Regards
Teffe

There are two types of fans (PWM and non-PWM), and my guess is that your new fan is a non-PWM 3 pin/wire fan.     A 3-pin non-PWM fan will plug into a 4 pin port on the motherboard, but will get the full 12 volts all the time and will always run at 100%.

PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) fans will have 4-pin/wire connectors so their speed can be controlled by the BIOS etc, which is done by essentially interrupting the power to the fan in order to control fan speed based upon temperature, while non-PWM fans typically will have 3-pins, and run at a constant speed unless you use a resistor or some other control to limit the voltage.
