Re: Lenovo y710 Cube RAM upgrade issue

Thanks for clarifying. Yet I still wonder why the dual rank Samsung didn't work on its own either. It must have been a bad one afterall. I'll remember not to mix ranks though, very useful tip. Right now I'm testing y710 extensively. The I7 6700 doesn't exceed 60 degrees Celsius in stress test which I think is good for this cpu while I'm still tweaking gtx 1080 to find the best temp/noise/performance combination. I'm very happy with the overall noise of the machine - is compact and powerful yet the noise level it generates is on the quieter side.

Sounds good to me. I think the NEW samsung should have worked standalone.

Did you put it in the correct memory slot? (slot 0).

Your Kingston is in slot 0; OEM Samsung is in slot 1.

You're right I haven't  tried installing tw Samsung module in slot 0 on its own, only coupled with the original OEM module. I guess I thought it diddn't matter as both the OEM and Kingston stick work regardless of the slot. I have already sent the double sided Samsung chip away so I'll guees I'll never find out...
