Nvidia resizeable bar support T7 34IMZ5 RTX3080

2021-03-30, 19:17 PM

Nvidia has released drivers today which have activated resizeable bar support on RTX30 series graphics cards.

In order for this to work on this machine., Lenovo need to release a new GPU bios and Motherboard bios update as both support this feature.

When do Lenovo plan to do this ?

Hello @Will109876,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The most recent driver for the BIOS was released on December 2020.

I would suggest keeping an eye on the support site or regularly checking for updates using Lenovo Vantage to get the latest drivers.

Hope this helps.

Came here looking to voice the same....I just received this PC a month ago, and would really like to take full advantage of my card. Lenovo, PLEASE add resizable bar support via the SBIOS as soon as possible. And if, while you're at it, you could enable Intel XMP and maybe even manual fan control, this would be unquestionably the best out of the box gaming PC from a major brand on the market.

If I understand it correctly, it is the bios of the RTX3080 that needs to be updated, not the system bios.  My Legion shipped with a RTX2070 Super that according to CPUID is manufactured by MSI.  I have an ASUS TUF NVidia RTX 3080 O10G Gaming card and ASUS had a bios update on their site available today that enabled resizable bar support via the ASUS GPU bios.  The notes said:  This VBIOS update enables Resizable BAR technology, which gives a system’s CPU direct access to the entire GPU frame buffer. Multiple CPU to GPU transfers can be made concurrently instead of being queued, leading to a performance boost for memory-intensive games and workloads.  The tool can be used on all ASUS GeForce RTX™ 30 series graphics cards.

I wonder if your card has a bios update available on the MSI site, if your card is made by MSI?

Unfortunately, motherboard compatibility via the system BIOS is necessary, as well as a compatible CPU, in addition to the VBIOS update. I can confirm that I have updated an RTX 3090 FE with Nvidia's tool today, and updated to the newest driver, but in the system information of the Nvidia control panel shows "Resizable Bar          No." Until Lenovo provides a BIOS update to enable resizable bar, Legion T7 towers will not support it.

They'll have to push and update for it to stay competitive in the Pre-build market. other Manufacturers that pre-build have Resizable Bar support already (Some of the newer ACER towers, some of the Corsair Towers, and MSI Towers to name a few.) if Lenovo wants to keep their Gaming fanbase happy they'll do it. otherwise we'll either replace parts (And void our two year warranty.) which we fully can, or switch Manufacturer. go full custom build. they know that and i'm sure updating it is not much of an effort for them to do.

Does GPUz show your card as resizeable bar enabled since you updated your bios with the founders version. As that will show the card and not the motherboard which isn't enabled

I'm assuming you said you have flashed your card with the FE bios instead of Lenono
