Re: RTX 2080 in T730-28ICO Performance Issue

Yep that’s true but with performance of what a card that is less than 50% of its cost is hardly fair. I could see a deviation of 10% be normal but anything more i think you should toss that chip?

As a point of reference passmark compared the performance score as performance of a gtx 970

Re: RTX 2080 in T730-28ICO Performance Issue

the card shows up as this on speccy  Device ID 10DE-1E82 with details here

https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/206920/206920 10DE-1E82

but the MSI, Ventus 8G, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080, NON-A GPU-Bios (Samsung GDDR6) (1515 / 1750)  looks wrong...

dual fan not blower like ours

this zotac blower looks more correct ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 2080 Blower Graphics Card MFR # ZT-T20800A-10P

searching on the vBios Version 90.04.0d.00.33 still no match

https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/?architecture=NVIDIA&interface=PCI-E&memType=GDDR6&memSize=8192&...

further confusing is the driver version  25.21.14.1735 is for a NVIDIA GeForce MX150 laptop card and speccy only reports it having 4gb not the base level of 8gb for 2080 cards.

going to keep digging

Re: RTX 2080 in T730-28ICO Performance Issue

are you on their AIO or a cpu air cooler? maybe temp throttling during the tests?

Re: RTX 2080 in T730-28ICO Performance Issue

using gpu-z, then lookup function is shows

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/msi-rtx-2080-aero.b6234

which fits - msi, blower, GEFORCE RTX 2080 AERO 8G

https://us.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-RTX-2080-AERO-8G/Specification

will see what afterburner does for this

Re: RTX 2080 in T730-28ICO Performance Issue

I’m using the kraken x62. CPU temp never goes past 60

I will check my driver but my computer and Nvidia GeForce experience recognizes my card as an RTX 2080 with 8GB of vram. I also think I have a different driver than you. But yes my single fan blower looks more akin to the Asus RTX 2080 but without the red Asus lights.

Re: RTX 2080 in T730-28ICO Performance Issue

I'm using driver version 417.35. Looking at the specs for this MSI card matches what a typical RTX 2080 non Founder's Edition spec card. Still doesn't explain why it performs worse than a 1070.

Re: RTX 2080 in T730-28ICO Performance Issue

i listed some new ideas below, but first.... i gathered from your replacement of the psu from 500 to 850w and 130w AIO to the kracken  62 that you might have just pulled the 9900k, 2080, and 32gb ram and re-cased it or put on a different mobo. what's the setup now?

other thinking:

  • are you clocking your gpu same as benchmark comparisons - if they are turbo boosting to 5gz or OC'ing to 5.2+ you would get a difference [msi afterburner should one step auto overclock gpu to max using OC Scanner feature]
  • is re-cased, r u using a mobo like the other with a 370  chipset? or using a better one with a or 390 chipse? maybe a older board chipset and bios are causing issues
  • is vsync and g-sync off? they can sometimes bottleneck - check global setting in nvidia settings
  • if using msi afterburner, does it show expected results on real gameplay isntead of just benchmarks
  • you running game off the m2? a new ssd installed? or the 7200hdd it came with - that speed on loading textures etc could be effected
  • you sure your cables are right and the latest versions - hdmi 2.2 and dp 1.4 and sata 3 6gb/s - old cables rated slower or faulty cords can cause issues; also check you power cords are well seated form psu to gpu [if one of the 4 or +2plug isnt delivering, the card could throttle being underpowered- effectively undervolted-  but run halfway]
  • i would do a deep driver uninstall using"display driver uninstaller" or ddu found here https://www.wagnardsoft.com/
    • unistall gpu driver from remove apps or device manager
    • without restarting, run ddu in safe mode to remove drivers [it should turn off win 10 auto driver install function for you too]
    • reboot into windows
    • install latest drivers direct from nvidia [have install package pre-downloaded locally to desktop]

Re: RTX 2080 in T730-28ICO Performance Issue

Asrock phantom gaming 6 mobo, psu, and the AIO are the only changes (wanted more ram expansion slots and case fan). Added an additional SSD but other than that the parts are the same.

Changed the mobo after the new psu didn’t do anything for the performance. Still same issue regardless.

Re: RTX 2080 in T730-28ICO Performance Issue

same case and fan set up [1- 120mm in front]? new mobo fit where their lenovo one went [was curious if lenovo mobo was a proprietary size or if any mATX mobo works in the case]
