Second M.2 SSD? (T5-26AMR5)

2021-05-07, 21:02 PM

Hi again,

Is it possible to install a second M.2 SSD in a T5-26AMR5 without disturbing the pre-installed 256GB drive? This system also has a 1TB platter drive, and I designated it as "E:" so I could lay in a second SSD as "D:".

Hello @chrison600,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Based on the psref page of the machine it should hold the following for storage:

Storage Support
Up to 2 drives, 1x 3.5" HDD + 2x M.2 SSD
• 3.5" HDD up to 2TB
• M.2 SSD up to 1TB
However if you have additional expansion slots it could work but we would still recommend sticking to the recommended configuration for best compatibility.

Hope this helps.

I can see the available/empty SDD connection on the motherboard. I was just wondering if I could attach a second SDD there without disturbing the stability of the current 256GB drive already attached.

I have a T7i with 2 avaialble m.2 ports. I installed an additional 1gb m.2 without issue. The new one actually runs cooler than the one already installed.

I use the 2nd drive for storage etc and the primary drive for Windows with no issues to report
