Upgrade Lenovo ideacentre Y710 Cube-15ish

2020-03-25, 8:57 AM

Hei.

Thinking about upgrading my sons pc. There are some issues when playing some games.

We are thinking about changing:

Motherboard

Prosessor to i7-9700k

and memory RAM

So it will be a "new" pc.

Have been recomenden an upgrade-package containing the above.

Is there something I should think about before I do this? Any known issues?

Thank you for answers or ideas.

I cant find anything online so could I go to a local computer store and ask for help? the only thing stopping me is a few clips on the outside that cant be undone so i cant pull the parts out. I also assume all the old parts will be able to fit a new case. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Alebur,

when upgrading, you should keep in mind that you will need an adapter for the PSU, since its connection to the Lenovo produced motherboard is unique and won't fit a common 3rd party motherboard. Another thing to keep in mind is, that the connection of the front LEDs to the motherboard is also unique and if you would swap the motherboard for a 3rd party motherboard, you would need to completely replace the LED lights in order to work.

All in all, its just a mini ITX case like any other (asides from looking really cool) so you can modify the PC to your liking. You can find some nice examples of how people were able to modify their Y710 Cube in this discussion.

Best regards,

I'm sorry but I'm not sure I understand your question? You can reach out to a local computer store for help, but you can also ask for help here in the forums.
