Y900 DIY - Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

2016-08-19, 13:35 PM

I was getting this error message before my computer completely failed and now as of an in home service call where my motherboard, CPU, and RAM were replaced with new ones I am still getting it.  When it happens the computer does indeed stop accepting mouse input or keyboard input for a brief period of time of a few seconds or less.  I notice that the Lenovo website HAD the graphics driver as a "Critical Update" and that most recent driver recommended by Lenovo was 15.40.10.4300 and I had updated to that before the computer failure and that is still my current driver.  I think it very strange that Lenovo no longer has ANY graphics drivers on their site for the Y900 - DIY which uses the onboard graphics!  I think it is also very odd that Lenovo is no longer selling the Y900 - DIY.  First it was "sold out" and now it is no longer even shown as an available model.  Note that the Intel site has a more recent driver available which is 15.40.25.4463, release date 6/17/2016.  The intel site shows the release date for my current driver 15.40.10.4300 as 10/26/2015.  Is anyone else experiencing this problem and can I expect my new motherboard/CPU/RAM to fail again?

Can any Lenovo reps explain to me why the graphics driver has been removed from your critical updates in downloads and why you no longer have any graphics driver in downloads for the onboard graphics in the Y900?

I continue to get the short term interruption in display response, along with the error message popping up in lower right of display and in Event Viewer.  And this is with a new motherboard and CPU

Update:  Thinking it might possibly be an issue with having only 4GB of memory, even though I had the pagefile set to a very large size and the drive is an SSD, I upped the physical memory to 32GB.  The issue continues where the display driver  stops responding for a short while and recovers.

I can't be the only one out there with this computer who is having this issue.  The warnings appear in Event Viewer in Windows / System so even if you're not at the computer when it occurs you can see if it is happening on your system.  Would appreciate some feedback from anyone with a Y900 DIY, even if you are not having the problem, I'd like to know.
