Legion T5-26AMR5: Ryzen 3600 cpu high temps

2021-02-21, 15:52 PM
Hello, I recently got the lenovo legion t5 26amr5, It has: an amd ryzen 5 3600 processor 16GB ram 512gb ssd geforce rtx 2060 windows 10 home. the model is: 90rc0014ge.I noticed the following problem with the gaming pc, the processor gets very hot,I often play CallOfDuty Warzone with graphics settings where everything is on high and the cpu often gets 75 - 83 degrees hot,The highest temperature I had while playing was 89 degrees. My question is now, is this normal with the processor or is there something wrong with the cooling? If there is something wrong with the cooling, can I replace the cooler with a Dark Rock 4 cooler from be quiet, without the warranty being voided.
Or do I have to send the computer back.

thanks for the help in advance!

Please verify that all the case fans are correctly oriented so the air flow is front-to-rear.  See this thread

So I checked and saw that my fans were pointing in the right direction.
But I don't know if it is so good that the front fan is on the lower fan point.
Should I screw the fan to the top or leave everything like it is in the pict
ures I have included

How are the temps on the graphics card right after a gaming session?  I find GPU-Z best for this.  What is that round thing in the centre of the upper fan position?  Would it interfere with airflow?

The graphics card gets about 65-70 hot while playing.

And the round thing in the middle is just the lenovo logo, it's a bit smaller than the middle of the lower cooler.

So I don't think it would disturb the airflow

That temp is expected and normal.  Exactly what app are you using to monitor the CPU temps?

I monitor the cpu temperatures in the game with rivatuner.

It was installed automatically when i downloaded msi afterburner.

Since it is suggested by many, I switched on that it shows the graphics cards and cpu temperatures while playing.

OK, thx.  I looked at video showing the interior of the system, and the lower fan position is better for graphics card cooling.  When I Google Ryzen 5 3600 and high temps, there are pages of hits -- I am much more familiar with Intel processors.  Apparently that processor does run hot, even with better coolers, hotter than an equivalent Intel, although I do think 89C is too close to the thermal limit of 95C.  You might want to call and speak to Lenovo tech support where you are, see if they wish to take some action, please let us know what they say.  I may have a couple more suggestions, but do not wish to usurp Lenovo tech support.

Something I should have asked earlier, are you running the latest BIOS (as that is where the cpu & case fan control code is)?   A possible solution by Lenovo would be to spin the cpu and rear case fan a bit faster a bit sooner.
