Adding HDD to LENOVO LEGION Y520

Hello Everyone,

I bought my Lenovo LEGION Y520 with only a 256 SSD now it isn't sufficient for me so i was thinking to add another SSD or HDD.

Is it possible that i can add another hard drive??

I have not opened my laptop yet for the slot.

If someone would give me some advice it would be a lot helpful for me

Welcome to the Community Forums.

 

 The Y520 15" -  Machine Type : 80YY , 80WK  and 80WY does not supports another SSD. 

 

They all share the same Storage specs:

 

  • Storage (opt) : HDD / 2.5" wide, 5400 rpm, 7mm high, SATA 6.0Gb/s support
  • M.2 SSD (opt) : M.2 SSD / PCIe 3.0 x 4
  • Optical : None

 

There are upgrade options for it from taking a quick look on compatible SSD's.

 

This is the official guide on getting OEM(Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts:

 

How to Look Up and Purchase Accessories, Upgrades, and FRU/CRU Replacement Parts

Using your serial number in the parts lookup can get you the OEM whitelisted part number and other compatible substitutes if available.
