Hi, can you tell me more? Have you installed this BIOS update through Vantage or through the website? And how do you know if it has blocked your laptop?

Re:BIOS update [ BNCN41WW ] Updated Date: 2020-11-30 - Lenovo?

I updated the bios from vantage 1.11, then the laptop acting crazy, max fan all the time, it was loud and the temperature went to max 98. fps dropped due to thermal throttling in games. The throttle stop didn't work. Brightness key didn't work for me as well. So, i downgraded the bios to 1.10 last stable bios , it was successful but after that, it didn't post, only I can see is a black screen and spiral RGB keyboard.. And 1 beep, Bios post error.

Re:BIOS update [ BNCN41WW ] Updated Date: 2020-11-30 - Lenovo?

Today, Feb 21 2021, I went to double check the website on Lenovo via online scan of my laptop model.

It seems they have updated the information correctly.  I have not tried the BIOS update yet.

Anyone successfully updated the BIOS with the latest released?

Thanks in advance.

Re:BIOS update [ BNCN41WW ] Updated Date: 2020-11-30 - Lenovo?

im imagining thousands of laptops out there just became useless or something and probably cant even upgrade/downgrade their bios from now since we're on some random firmware, lol. i dont think they have the manpower let alone the knowledge of their own product to fix this.

Ive been a legion owner for the last 2 years, we have an inside joke that every bios update seems to get worse and worse. leNoNo just put the icing on the cake with this one. messing up thermals, fan controls, and rgb profiles for customers just wasn't pissing people off anymore. they thought to themselves: how can we screw up even harder? i know, lets give them a bios update for the wrong type of laptop... what a bunch of monkeys.

ACTUALLY, there are some pretty intelligent primates out there and i dont want to insult them by comparing them to lenovo's developers. my apologies to any animals i may have offended. lenovo if you guys need programmers, the calgary zoo is looking for a new home for their chimpanzees.

Yes, they are still silent. And the update hangs and needs to be updated every time. And Lenovo employees still have not given an answer. I don't understand them.

bios BNCN41WW  is total crap, it causes BSOD's on the Yoga it was intended for. The Yoga c740. Really Lenovo, you should get your act together.

Hello guys, it's inexcusable to keep your customers hanging like this.

Here's my story. I had my motherboard replaced due to a failed bios update, a regular one half a year back. Don't know what happened as I flashed and back flashed various bios versions. I'm quite careful and quite knowledgeable in this regard.

Now for the fun. After the mb replacement I decided to trust lenovo and let their software do what they think is right, so if it need to call upon premium care again I won't have to deal with any hassle about fault. So I did. New motherboard came with 36 bios, which i recall was not bad but not superb either compared to... 26 or 27? Can't recall really but i left it be. Reinstalled a fresh windows with the lenovo recovery usb tool, booted up vantage and let it do its magic and sure enough this Januari 41 came up. Along side all the stuff that actually worked. I took a peek at the support page for the full readme, and it listed the y540 variants. So very well, I'll just let vantage handle it then and leave it be.

So there we went again, artifacts popping up, random things going wrong and and I left it be for a while. Got fed up and some important life happenings came up.

Last month I got back, hit support again and another new motherboard and gpu was scheduled to be installed. Got the parts, never got a call for pickup. So far so good.

Called in again, got a number from support who told me to call them. Only for that number to tell me they need to call another number. Ended up taking to the support guy I mailed with, who is an absolute CHAMP (truly stand up guy). He told me he was sorry for all the screw-ups. Not his fault, and the legend actually took it upon himself to go to the department that was indeed supposed to help me as there was nothing he could do from his side, but he was getting tired of this crap too so he sorted it out personally in the department that was supposed to help me because 'he couldn't let me wait another few freaking weeks this way'.

Legend.

The mechanic who picked up my laptops, also a champ. Bigshot IBM guy who does lenovo repairs as a thing on the side as hobby.

Got the thing back today, working perfectly. Some drivers might have to be reinstalled so I checked what vantage found: keyboard and bios. Installed the keyboard, checked deeper into the bios this time and lo and behold.

Lenovo yoga baby. Critical update, better do it quick!

Normally I'd be patient and forgiving because we're all people, BUT GET YOUR **bleep** TOGETHER LENOVO. YOU GUYA KNOW ABOUT THIS, I HAD TO SEND MY LAPTOP IN BECAUSE OF THIS **bleep** AND IF I WAS A NORMAL AVERAGE USER I'LL I COULD HAVE CALLED CUSTOMER CARE AGAIN TOMORROW.

PULL THE **bleep** UPDATE. CORRECT IT.

For every complaint there are hundreds of silent customers, so you betcha this **bleep** **bleep** over a good deal of people.

I'd say an excuse is in place.

**bleep** me.
