Re:IdeaPad FLEX-15IML Model 81XH MTM 81XH0001US Won't restart after BIOS Update

@MP174 , I just messaged you the link to download the EECN36WW.cap file for the Flex 5-14ARE05. If you're able to figure out how to get it to work for you, let @EnikoB know what you did. Good luck!

Re:Bios update bricked my 17 month old Lenova ideapad flex 15iml

@yomondo  Thanks for the help, unfortunately no success on my end. Held the power button down, tried the windows key and I even removed the battery like an earlier user suggest all to no avail.

I'm unfortunately out of the warranty period so guess I'll have to sit tight until someone manages to figure the issue out for this model.

@EnikoB and @MP174 , I found this other thread, which is for the G580, but there's some information that might help for your Flex 5-14ARE05:

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-B-and-G-Series-Notebooks/Unbricking-G580-after-BIOS-update-failure-Solved-Guide/m-p/3953208?page=1#4396906

Based on the information in that thread, you might want to try the following:

- Format your USB drive (16GB or smaller) as FAT32
- Rename EECN36WW.cap to BIOS.cap and copy this file to your formatted USB drive
- Plug the USB drive into a USB 2.0 port (NOT a USB 3.0 port)
- Hold down the Fn and R keys

I appreciate all the help, it's really kind of you, but unfortunately that isn't working either. I've started sending out emails to local shops to see if they can repair it without replacing the motherboard.

@yomondo @MP174 I gave a try also. Unfortunately my laptop did not respond for anything. It is in total comatose state. I'll let you know about 10-14 days what's the diagnosis from the service hospital.... until that I will suffer here with another old, slow, outdated - but working - Lenovo laptop. Good Luck Everyone! ☮️

Just an update on my 14ARE05, I took it to a local shop that managed to remove the BIOS chip and reprogram it for me, working fine now. Hopefully you guys won't have to do something as drastic but it's also an option. You can also find pre-programmed BIOS chips online, for much cheaper, if you've adept soldering iron skills...

My 14ARE05 laptop just came back. According  to the "Product repair summary" they had to replace the Motherboard and Installed Operating System. Now,  I have put everything back and hope for the best! ;-)

My Ideapad went dead years ago. I gave up on it until this post.

Thanks for coming up with a solution.

The problem is my model ideapad is Flex 15 20309. When I go to the Lenovo website to download the driver it say "none needed" and does not allow me to manually download them.

Anyone know how I can get them? Will another Bios work for this model?

Thanks!
