Black screen on my gaming laptop

2021-06-11, 13:38 PM

Hello

Today I came home to my laptop not working properly.

Every time I try to turn it on, the keyboard lights up for half a second and then it turns off.

Rarely, about 3 times, the keyboard has begun working and the lights have stayed on but the screen was still pitch black.

Please help!

Hello @MyNameIsMat,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Kindly try performing a power drain on the machine.

This can be done by holding down the power button for 30 seconds while unplugged.

Please also post your MTM (ex 82B10000FR) so that other members can join in the discussion and offer solutions.

Hope this helps.
Regards,
Jack_Lenovo1

Try connecting the laptop to an external monitor and see if an image ever pops up. It sounds like your BIOS have failed or perhaps an essential component having failed. You can test if its the hard drive by trying it out on another computer or by creating a bootable drive and seeing if your computer picks up on it.

However, if you can't even access your BIOS or get a boot screen, try opening up the backplate of the laptop, look for the coin battery (it may be wrapped in all black), then remove it and put it back or replace it if it has died.

Let me know how it goes. @LelouchV will let me know you've replied.

Sadly that didn't do anything. My MTM is 81LB002CMX.

Is your laptop connected to power cable? Maybe the battery is fully drained.

Could be that the BIOS is corrupted, if that is the case you may need to send the laptop for service.

I dont know what laptop you have, you might have a USB-C/Thunderbolt port, a minidisplay port, or an HDMI port on there. Then check which ports your monitor has. Find any cable that connects your port to the monitor's port. The monitor most likely will have an HDMI port.

EDIT: Just saw your post of the laptop you have. An HDMI to HDMI cable should be all you need. Try to connect the laptop to a monitor just to see if a picture shows up when the keyboard stays on.
