Re: Bring back fan control to the Legion Y740

Hadn't notice that, that's odd... I installed it, it's basically the same thing with a new skin, a bit more confusing, but maybe that's just a matter of getting used to it...

Want to really mess up the vantage app? Upgrade from windows 10 home to Windows 10 professional. Lol then support will tell you that you voided your warranty. Like they told me LOL

Has anyone found any solution to the problem?
At the moment to have reasonable temperatures I have to reduce the TPL to 45w and this strongly limits the performances.

I have limited tdp to 35W and 3.4ghz clocks for sub 80c temperature without losing any fps in games. But CPU related tasks will suffer. Is Lenovo even listening?

You can also try undervolting, it reduces temperatures and you don't loose performance, quite the opposite since it doesn't throttle as much, in my machine a -125 mv will do the trick, bit this varies even with the same specs. To answer your question, I don't think they are listening...

I'm already undervolting at -135...

With the max fan function, my temperature never exceeded 85c, now without reducing the TPL it stay around 90/95c.
Limiting TPL to 45w drop the temperature 20 degree but the performance loss is noticeable.

In my opinion, if Lenovo doesn't want to bring back the max fan function they should at least provide a more aggressive fan profile.

You're right, this must be solved, although the chips are prepared to sustain close to 100 ºC for extended periods, at least that is the claim, so the throttle threshold seems appropriate, still, I don't feel very confortable with these kinds of temperatures... In my case with the -125mv, the TDP rarely surpasses the 45W, even in performance mode, witch, as you know, has a 60/90 CPU power limit, therefore the temperatures are not as high as in your case, I get stable 3.88 GHz, ocasionally it drops a bit to 3.7, and both the thermal and power limit throttling are almost non existent, oher than the ocasional spikes that are related to the 90W boost that rarely occurs, normaly the maximum I get when gaming is about 70/75W, maybe this happens beacause of some difference in specs, I have a 17.3" 8750h 2070mq 32gb, still, the radical difference in behaviour is a bit jarring... Keep in mind that the thermal modes not only change the fan profiles, but also the power limits of the processor and the GPU for the 2070mq and 2080mq models.
