You have two of them? Does it happen on both? Well, I have the 8750h 2070mq, I've never experienced that problem, the BIOS's are different I have a 1.10 version, so I can't help you there, maybe you should sent them to warranty, the way you describe the situation, looks like it's a BIOS problem despite of the wifi card error, but if you feel confortable with that, you can try to remove it and test the machine without it, otherwise, you can wait a few days, maybe they realease a BIOS update soon, good luck...

Support is useless so calling or chatting with them isnt worth the hassle anymore.if you look at your laptop wrong, you have voided your warranty. Installing Windows 10 pro on a y740 voids your warranty. Your bottom cover screw has a scratch on it voids your warranty. Lenovo can't provide answers or fixes. Hence why I have been through countless hours of testing and trying to get the community on notebook review some sort of answers or us in a direction to fix Lenovos issue our selves. A couple of us have pondered sending Lenovo a bill for having to fix their issues.

And one of these is a replacement that I have received for the y740 that died a week and a half ago . 1 is for work. 1 is for gaming.  1 has already been replaced . I'm given them 5 days for a response or a fix, or we are going to the BBB and other resources to handle this matter. If you are going to offer tech support. At least train them to make an effort in fixing the problem. Not sit there and listen... Tell you that your only option is to return it for another because the earth shifted 1° so now my warranty is void.  Could I just return them all and get my money back? Yes. Should I have went with MSI or another Clevo ? ,yes. But that doesn't right the wrong they have done to everyone else by shady support practices. Warranty denials based off of how the tech felt when he woke up that morning. And evidently a bios that was created by a handful of monkeys dry humping footballs.

So reverting to 1.03 is the only option to have manual fan control on the 9750h model?

You can unlock the BIOS hidden menus, check this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iSmObC6rY8, be careful when fiddling with this, keep in mind that these are critical settings, if you see yourself in trouble there is always the option of reseting to the factory settings...

About the hard locks. I am using my laptop (Y540) in linux mostly. The only slowdown I have is when I have overheating and the cpu throttles to compensate.

So if it's not the temp for you, it has to be windows, because mine runs well on linux.

Claiming you void your warranty by installing another OS is like saying a car doesn't have warranty anymore because you didn't use the gasoline it came with, or the tires that came with it. It doesn't hold as a real claim from them.

I can confirm. Following the downgrading instructions on page 2 and getting the version 1.03 bios for the 9750H. I was able to get Nerve to work with Extreme cooling. I did try it on 1.06 first and it didn't have that feature.

tl;dr -- Nerve fan control works on 1.03 NOT on 1.06
