Re:Bring back fan control to the Legion Y740

Add my name to the petition. Bring this option back please!

Why even remove it? Why take away a user's ability to customize their computers?

Do you want them to overheat and fail so we buy less of your product? Or do you want to give the user control over their $2K machine and earn a reputation that causes us to possibly consider Lenovo in the future?

I'm trying to buy a gaming book and that's why I'll not buy Lenovo Y540. Congratulations! If you don't want to sell your products, that's the right way.

Same with my Y540.
I can't believe this is not Bios controllable.

I'm in linux and I have no idea what the "mode is" but one of the cores (the one working) is always throtlling because it reaches 96º super fast.

Normal operation 50-60º C, I just want an option to put the fans on!
We contact them and they just DON'T CARE!

In their Facebook page they seem to be more responsive. Maybe we can try to create a facebook public group and twitter, apparently we need to shame lenovo to get what we paid for.

No, they don't care. They are just happy that they have tied fans to CPU power wattage consumption.

You can the thermal curve is baked into the bios, enable the advanced bios "fn hold then run your finger across every letter on the keyboard" advanced menu in bios then thermal platform configuration then just chnage your trip points for the desired degrees obviously don't be a wanker and raise the level so the fans don't turn on just to have a quiet BBQ of a computer because that be a warranty issue anyway simply just lower the required temperature so that the fans get kicked on sooner

Thank you so much!A little help for everyone else.To activate the advanced bios you need to swipe you finger quickly on the fey rows... if you are too slow it will not work.

It dose, but beware that some of the setting in the advanced bios could quite literally burn your CPU.
To give you an idea, you could set the laptop to ignore the thermal safety limit set on the processor.

So edit as little as possible unless you know exactly what you are doing.
