Re:Bring back fan control to the Legion Y740

Hi guys, new 1.10 firmware on cpu 9750 is horrible. Meantime I reinstall windows,  downgrade bios to 1.03 and now, windows allways download and update bios by himself. How can I stop it? The difference in performance is huge and avarege temps are much lower in older bios version with full fans speed. Can someone help? Thanks

This is exactly the problem I was having.  You can turn off windows from updating manufacturer software's but that did not seem to prevent the bios from updating in my system.  I had to send my machine back 4 times to the repair center from fried mobos being caused by auto bios updates which were bricking my unit.  Nightmare...

Disable updates in Lenovo vantage doesnt help. I found an official windows utility, where I can disable specific update, so I choose lenovo bios and finally it works. Max fan speed all the time when playing games, much better performance and temps.

Have you benchmarked the difference in performance ? Mine installed 1.10 the other day and it still plays Warzone great. Looking at gpu frequency and temperature on my 2070 max q I find it really hard to believe max fans is really raising fps in a meaningful way unless you are playing csgo in potato mode.

I thought I would provide some assistance here. There's a hidden bios menu. Enter the bios on startup using Fn+F2. Once in bios press the fn key and then slide your finger from Q-P, A-L and Z-M. Let go of the fn key and hit F10. A popup will appear and hit yes and the next time you enter bios it will be the advanced menu which includes thermal settings and the ability to change the temperature at which the fans will kick in and how fast they will go.

As well I highly suggest turning on Memory Thermal Management in the memory section of it. My benchmarks took a massive leap once I turned it on and the fans are finally noticeable for once
