Re:Charging problem in Legion Y540

Got two Lenovo Legions. One Y540, the other i5. Both have the same charging port issue. Sended the one who died to service.

How Lenovo Waranty works? Ive been told it's my fold and the cost is  (breath deeply....) :

~ 850 USD for desoldering and soldering simple port - offcial service point in Poland. That's 70% of laptop price.

If they do this same for with the other one.. It will be  summedn1700 USD for fixing they own created problem. That's robbery.

Market price of that service is ~`80USD here so I'll do that.

Thank God I not buyed graphic station from them.

Never ever again. Lenovo is dead for me.

How is this blog post [Solved] ? ;-)

this problem of Legion laptop is anything but solved.

I tried everything except sending it for maintenance. (which is costly, you are trusting all your data with another company and the problem comes back)

These might help but as soon as the fan starts expelling out heat it would disconnect again and again and again...

1. The male plug due to excessive heat gets corroded on the inside. if you scratch the surface of the inner side walls that might help a little bit.

2. The springs of the female plug (power socket) get squeezed over time and if you try to pull/push them out a little bit that might help as well. use a needle.

3. try cooling pads for this bizarre laptop

4. try a cooling coil for the power plug

5. if you are a pro electrician try to solder a power cord inside the motherboard and bring it out of the laptop. (it would be ugly but it might work better that this mess.

This is a problem that you will need to live with unless you get ride of your Legion and never ever buy Lenovo again!

Re:Charging problem in Legion Y540

Imagine saving for months and months for your first gaming computer only to end up with a charger that has literally just fallen out constantly since day one. Nevermind trying to get help, the J key popped off two months in, I drove over an hour to the nearest Best Buy only to be told it would cost me 80 and be gone for weeks. This was while still under warranty.

i want to cry, I want to punch something, I want to shout on every public forum possible to not ever buy a Lenovo Legion. and judging by this thread they don’t give a crap and unless I know how to friggen solder, it was tossing 1400 dollars into the wind, do you know how long it took me to save up for this massive disappointment? I will never shop this brand again when this finally stops charging altogether, which by the constantly flashing or brightness seems to be pretty soon. I’m sick over this.

My laptop has become much worse. I extended my warranty with Lenovo. Let's see how they take care of my problem.

I am not expecting much but let's see

Re:Charging problem in Legion Y540

I'm having the same charging problem since almost a year now. Every time I go to the official service center, they convince me that the problem is only with the charger and replace it. The new charger is fine for 4/5 months then again I see the charging issues. I have now used 3 different chargers and still the problem persists.

They only replaced the charger for me as it was within the 6 months warranty period.

Surely for a laptop that costs over 80K there is a more permanent solution in which I don't have to replace/buy a new charger every 5 months...?
