Considering buying Ideapad L340-15IRH

2021-01-31, 21:12 PM

Hello Lenovo community,

I'm about to buy this PC for a friend but I have two questions I couldn't find an answer in the manual guide or elsewhere.

Does the "keyboard backlight" can be turned off ?
Is there a compartment to access the SDD and change it ? Or I must open all the backboard and loose the warranty ? / Can I add a second intern HDD ?

I know it's not the latest laptop but my budget is tight and it will be sufficient to play Atlas and Skyrim :).

Sorry for my english and thanks a lot for your time :3.

Hello @Issachar,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Yes the keyboard backlight can be switched off with FN+Space.

This machine can also use up to 2 drives at the same time one HDD and one M.2 SSD. (Source https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/IdeaPad/ideapad_L34015IRH_Gaming

As for warranty when upgrading the machine you may have to contact our helpline for that as this is region specific.

Hope this helps.

Hello @Jack_Lenovo1 !

Thanks for your answer. It may help me, I forgot I can google my questions too and yes I can disable the backlit :).
And for the SSD/HDD, I am checking your link but the reference of the computer I want is not listed, now I think I probably should have given that information directly, what I forget to do, sorry :/ . It's referencial is 81LK01PKFR (https://www.cdiscount.com/informatique/ordinateurs-pc-portables/pc-portable-gamer-lenovo-ideapad-l340-15irh-15/f-1070992-81lk01pkfr.html?idOffre=598922209#read)

After that I find this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9Xl3XCB3xU , (a guy is upgrading his L340)and now I am wondering if the bay for the hard drive is natively in or is not (like in the video) and if I must buy it.

So, I'll buy it but I must know what to buy with it before : a new SSD (PCIe NVMe 1.3 : https://www.cdiscount.com/informatique/disques-durs/pny-ssd-interne-cs3030-500go-m-2-nvme-m28/f-1073610-pny751492624655.html?idOffre=342536343#read
OR : simply a HDD if the bay is already there for this model ?

Thanks again !

Hello @Issachar,

Thanks for the update.

I've checked the parts list and it shows that the machine requires an HDD bracket in order for an HDD to be added to the machine.

I would not be able to check if your specific machine would have it installed however this is the part number: 5B40S21897

You can open the machine and check for yourself however I would recommend contacting Helpdesk first to check if this will void the warranty since it is different in other regions.

You can use this link for contact information: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/supportphonelist
