Crashing for 9 months Lenovo Legion Y530-15ICH - Type 81FV

2020-06-29, 21:12 PM

Hello guys,

First I want to thank you for taking your time and trying to help me.

This machine started having bluescreens nine months ago and it now crashes daily - shut downs or Blue screens.

I do not run any games on it and just run normal software

Blue screen errors are:

  1. DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION - latest blue screen today and seen a few time s
  2. SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTIONNOT HANDLED - A few times
  3. SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION
  4. MEMORY MANAGEMENT a number of times
  5. NTFS.sys
  6. FAULTY HARDWARE CORRUPTED PAGE - a few times
  7. DRIVER OVERRAN STACK ERROR
  8. DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE

• Using Core Temp app: It runs over 90 c on most  of the cores... see image below

It got so bad I took it to Lenovo to fix they had it for 37 days and it is still crashing

Lenovo says it not hardware issue?? They replaced the memory and the CPU still having Blue screens latest blue screen is DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION…

Lenvovo says the temps below are fine --- i dont thinks so?

Any ideas to fix this?

Much appreciated

Warren

Machine Specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.21 GHz

Windows 10 pro

Installed memory (RAM): 16 GB (15.9 GB usable)

64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

Machine still under warranty/ machine is now 13 months old

Take a full image backup of your y530 to an external hdd.

Download Windows 10  1909 from Heidoc.net (download the tool, run, select your version of 1909 home or pro).

Disconnect your y530 from the Internet !!!

Open the download ISO file and run setup exe.

Select clean install (wiping all apps and data)

During the install create a local account.

After the install go over all the settings, privacy, windows update...block Windows 10 2004 install, block June Windows updates.

Restore your data and re-install apps

Connect the laptop to the Internet.

Let Windows update the latest monthly patches.

Hi Alex,

Thank you so much for this detailed solution.

So based on what you saying the issue here with the temperatures and the blue screens is due to an issue with windows 10?

Just some questions below... I am not 100% tech savvy on everything you are talking

Take a full image backup of your y530 to an external hdd.  - What software do you use to do that?

Download Windows 10  1909 from Heidoc.net (download the tool, run, select your version of 1909 home or pro). what code do I use for the License for Windows?

Open the download ISO file and run setup exe. How do i do this if there is no OS on the laptop?

During the install create a local account. - local account - not sure what account you refferring to is that Windows...

"What software do you use to do that?

Ther are some free backup software. Use Macrium Reflect : https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree

Download Windows 10  1909 from Heidoc.net (download the tool, run, select your version of 1909 home or pro). what code do I use for the License for Windows?

Windows 10 license is "burned" into your motherboard. No need to enter license.

Open the download ISO file and run setup exe. How do i do this if there is no OS on the laptop?

You have your current OS on your laptop. Double click on the ISO files and it will open.

During the install create a local account. - local account - not sure what account you refferring to is that Windows... "

Local account is the account you log in your Windows after startup. Don't create Microsoft account.

Thanks again Alexmanaged to get windows installed.

Only found two issues I cant seem to resolve

1. the user account is now C:Usersadmin and in the old version is was C:Userswarren this will cause major problems with all my hyper links through Onenote is there is simple way to fix this as I tried to change the name from admin to warren and messed things up and had to do a system restore.

2. When i go to settings I cant find anywhere where I can ".block Windows 10 2004 install, block June Windows updates.

Thanks for your help

If your version of Windows 10 is Pro you can defer updates in Windows Update - Advanced Options.

Set  Feature Updates to 180 days.

Set Quality Updates (Monthly Security Updates) to 30 days (up until July 9).

There are many bugs in both June updates and Windows 10 May Update (2004).

If you are on Windows 10 Home your can do 2 things :

Set your Internet connection and Wi-Fi connection to : Metered.

Defer updates to 7x5= 35 days.

During the install you had the option to create Microsoft account or local account.

Choosing local account you should have created any username and password/no password.

Try this : https://www.hellotech.com/guide/for/how-to-change-administrator-name-on-windows-10

Thanks for your input as regards to temp of the CPU.

Please see Lenovo supports comments when I said it is running at an average of 90 C ... they say that temp is within the designed threshold.

What should I say to them?
