Dual Channel memory gives you significant fps boost

2018-06-29, 19:40 PM

Hi! Few weeks ago I read post where someone told that after he upgraded RAM from single module 8GB to 16GB dual modules for his Y720 he got ~40 more fps on GTA V. Yes, I already knew that dual channel gives performance boost, but I never thought it would gives huge fps boost.

So today I upgraded RAM for my Y720 (i7-7700HQ, GTX 1060 6GB). I replaced Ramaxel RMSA3260MH78HAF-2666 8GB module with two modules of Kingston KHX2400C14S4/8G 8GB. And you know what? I got huge fps boost. I did Cinebench CPU and GPU test and Passmark RAM test before and after RAM upgrade. There's results-

On the right side you can see results after RAM upgrade. On the left side before upgrade. Also I played some CS:GO after upgrade and I noticed huge fps boost, ~50-70 more fps on different situations.

So I you have gaming laptop with only one RAM module inside and you want some fps boost, you should consider a purchase of new RAM module or modules.
