Google Chrome freezing entire OS. Legion Y520-15IKBN

2018-08-27, 4:53 AM

Anyone else facing OS hangs while using Google Chrome after the April update? Microsoft says that they have fixed it with the May update but i am still facing this issue. I have to close and reopen the laptop lid to make it work again and its really annoying when the OS hangs 4-5 times within an hour.

man ! do you want my advice ? just get rid of chrome ! my whole system was buggy and slow until I removed it and started using Edge ..
Edge is really good and light, give it a shot if you hadn't yet ..

and for the problem, the lid has nothing to do with OS/software being frozen or not, there must be something else happening, how many RAM do you have ? do you check performance in task manager when this problem occurs ?

Closing the lid puts my laptop to sleep so when i reopen the lid it starts working again. I have 16gb RAM. I know its not due to RAM as i have plenty of it and all my games run just fine its only Chrome that has this freezing issue that hangs the entire OS. I know that Edge is light/fast but i just prefer Chrome and have always used Chrome. Its only an issue with this particular laptop. Chrome works just fine on my low end desktop with only 8gb RAM. Thanks for your help. Will definitely give Edge a try if it has the same level of Extensions and flash player support as Chrome.
