How to reset bios on y700

Hi

 

I have a Lenovo y700 ideapad and I cannot start it anymore. It is in a restart loop, and I cannot enter bios.
I tried hitting f2 buttons etc. and also using the restart button on the laptop, but it never enters bios.

 

My question now is, if there is how to reset the bios. I searched about this topic but only found answers for older ideapads.

 

Is there any way to do this? I would be really thankful!

 

Just for info: I have never updated my bios (I should have done it most likely since I had the keyboard issue).

Hi TigrisCallidus,

 

Welcome to the Community Forums.

 

You can initiallly power drain the machine. Unplug the ac charger. Shut down the machine and press the power button for more than 4 seconds. Then use the Novo button to power on the laptop and you should see the Novo Menu to launch BIOS set up.

I tried the steps you described, however, I still only see the same behaviour as above.

I see the "Lenovo" logo for a short time and an endless restart loop.

I tried the novo button before (but never with the long press before it).

Hi TigrisCallidus,

 

Try removing the harddrive and do the same Novo power on.

 

If the issue is the same, then we are looking at a failed POST.

 

You can try using one ram stick at a time attempting to go to BIOS and even cleaning our the fan and/or reapplying thermal paste if you have the tools and skill. Else best to have it check in a service center. 

 

You won't have to to the internal disassembly if you still have warranty. You can just give tech support a call.
