IdeaPad y700 17isk new hard drive upgrade

I bought an IdeaPad Y700-17ISK about two years ago, but have found that I need more hard drive space. Is there a specific one that is compatable and works well with this model? I'm looking for something between 500GB and 1TB. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Re: IdeaPad y700 17isk new hard drive upgrade

actually any 2.5 inches 7mm thick drive will work for you, 500GB/1TB/2TB, HDD or SSD, not to mention that your laptop can take up to 2 storage drives, one SATA and another PCIe SSD one ..
what do you have in your machine now ?

Not quite any 2.5" drive.  The Y700 specifies a 7mm thick drive.  9.5mm drives may not fit.

ah sorry I forgot about the thickness, yeah it's a 7mm thin drive, but I was referring to the form factor and capacity, thanks for correcting this
