IdeaPad y700 dedicated GPU

2016-04-04, 15:40 PM

I have an IdeaPad y700 with the 4gb VRAM version of the NVIDIA GTX 960M dedicated graphics card. Is it somehow replacable, and mainly, can I change it to a 980M? Thanks in advance!

Hi Eshel56765  ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As to most laptops , Discreted Graphics: similar to NVIDIA GTX 960M (M :mobile)  are embedded on the board from the factory and are considered non upgradable.

But this do not leave the fact that repair of the gpu chip are at times done by local technician thru reball / rework . Cost of just pushing the upgrade and the risk is not promising not unless it is last resort for a repair.

Hope this answered your query.

Regards

Hi Eshel56765 ,

Having an updated drivers downloaded directly from NVIDIA would add features not offered from OEM drivers.

Minimizing other application when using the intended one can help concentrate the pc's resources to to task in hand.

Setting power option to full performance would be preferred by the graphics integration .
