Is compatible the Intel AX210 wifi board with my legion? It is uses the Mediatek MT7921

The wifi on my computer has worked very bad since I bougth it.

It has the Mediatek MT7921 and now I am looking another board compatible with my Legion that uses an AMD processor.

I found that the Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 is a good board but I can´t assure it will work.

I saw something about compatibilities between bios and wifi boards but I could not conclude anything about that.

I saw too that Intel boards with an "1" in the end of the model number will only work with Intel processors (like the AX211).

Is this a good option? Are there any wifi board better to use in this case and sustitute my Mediatek chip?

Thank you a lot in advance!

Thank you for your follow-up questions.

You are correct that the site I referenced shows the original compatible parts for your laptop model. Unfortunately, Lenovo does not publicly provide a BIOS whitelist for Wi-Fi card compatibility. However, I can offer some guidance based on your situation.

The Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 is generally compatible with many Lenovo laptops, but it is not officially listed for your specific model. While some users have reported success with this upgrade, it is not guaranteed. The BIOS may restrict certain hardware changes, and this can vary by model and BIOS version.

I hope this helps clarify your options. Please let me know if you have any further questions or need additional assistance.

Best regards,

Re:Is compatible the Intel AX210 wifi board with my legion? It is uses the Mediatek MT7921

Hi OscarCre,

Welcome to the Community!

I understand your concerns regarding the Wi-Fi performance on your Legion laptop. The Mediatek MT7921 has been known to have some connectivity issues, and upgrading to a more reliable Wi-Fi card is a good idea.

However, we need to consider the compatibility due to BIOS limitation. Please share the model type that would look like 81C70000RK or 20UD000BUS from the sticker underneath, Vantage, or by typing sysinfo using Windows search so we can check the exact model and specifications.

Looking forward to your reply!

Best regards,
Hector_Lenovo

Thank you for providing the product number. I checked the compatible parts for your model here which doesn't include the Intel AX210 Module.

However, I found a related topic which other members confirmed to have it work on a similar model. You can check this link for more info. I would still recommend checking for parts warranty and return options from vendor should you want to try it on your laptop model.

Please don't hesitate to visit the community at anytime, should you need further assistance.

But that you consulted is just a site to see what cards the laptop could include originally, true?

Is anywhere a BIOS whitelist to check the compatibility with wifi boards?

Is there a different place than this forum to check with Lenovo if a wifi card will work in a laptop or not? As a manufacturer, Lenovo must help with this problem in a clear way.

Thank you.
