Looking to buy the Lenovo Y700 but i'm kinda scared of the infamous "black screen of death" issue.Is it still a thing?

Thought i would have gotten an answer by now.. Pretty bad assistance from Lenovo.

Hi Thesty, welcome to the forums.
I don't know much about this issue. What it was reported on this forum thread (Lenovo Y700 error, black screen of death, no mouse, please help) was that if you experience this issue you can check this service tip. If after updating the driver, you still experience the black screen you should open a ticket to Lenovo. Some reported that after sending the Laptop to Lenovo for repair the issue was fixed.
Please check the service tip to see if the model you want to get is affected.
