I am looking to upgrade SSD on my Legion y720p.
Is this one compatible with it?
Samsung 970 EVO 1TB - NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD (MZ-V7E1T0BW) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BN217QG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_LzLkDb1M1R3QM
If not, any other suggestions?

Welcome to the Community Forums.
Would you share the machine number/ MTM (ex. 80VR0010RK) from the sticker or get it from here?
Among the Y20 series, the m.2 storage is supported up to 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD 2280 similar to your choice. Recommended m.2 SSD are also listed in the hardware manual. This may not include the Samsung 970 but as long as the specification matches then it is expected to work.
When choosing 3rd party parts, it is always suggested to check return option just in case.
I hope this helps answer your query.

I agree with what Spidey101 has mentioned, this SSD should work but please make sure that you can return it in case of any issues.
I'd also recommend that if your laptop did not originally come with an M.2 SSD, please open it up and make sure that the M.2 SSD slot is in there. It has happened in the past that different countries have a slightly different motherboard for the same laptop model, where in you may not find the SSD / HDD slot to put in the extra drive.

Thank you for your reply.
My Machine number is MTM:80VRCTO1WW
I’ll try searching up hardware manual to see the recommended SSDs as well.
I am just worried about the specifications of my Samsung 970 choice. If it works I’d prefer that.

So you will be getting a M.2 SSD PCIe nvme 2280 like PN 5SD0L07883 (Samsung MZVLW1T0HMLH-000L2 PCIe M.2 1TB SSD).
On this post confirmed a Samsung 960 Evo works and here had Samsung 970 Pro. If you choose a non OEM part, there is no 100% guarantee so I always say to review return options the same whenever we buy anything specially electrical gadgets from any store.
